Fire Door Services

Our Services

Inspections, maintenance, and installation must be undertaken by a Competent Person, which is someone with sufficient training, qualifications, experience, and knowledge to be able to implement fire safety measures.

All our fire door inspectors have passed industry recognised qualifications, and our Fire Door Services management team have a wealth of experience and knowledge within the fire doors industry.

Harrison Thompson & Co Ltd (brand name Yeoman Shield) are FIRAS third-party certified for maintenance and installation of fire rated doorsets and our onsite supervisors are assessed by Warringtonfire and registered with FIRAS. All work carried out by our fixing operatives will be issued with a FIRAS scheme certificate of conformity.

Yeoman Shield Fire Door Services Involves the following:

– Fire door inspections are carried out by our qualified inspectors on fire rated doorsets identified to us by the Responsible Person.

– A report is issued to the Responsible Person identifying any issues with recommended remedial work to bring the doors back to conformity.

– The report will enable our estimating team to provide a quotation for the work identified during the inspection, including any Yeoman Shield products requested or advised.

– Our fixing operatives will undertake the required work in accordance with accepted repair techniques and best practice.

– Where doors are beyond repair our operatives can install new doorsets provided by the client or sourced by ourselves.

– All work carried out will be registered on the FIRAS database and a copy of the certification sent to the client.

– This provides traceability for the future and offers conformity for the work carried out.

Fire Door Inspections

Our qualified fire door inspectors undertake inspections.

All our inspectors have successfully passed industry-recognised qualifications.

We offer two types of survey, an intrusive survey where we check 10% of the back of frames to ascertain if they have suitable fire stopping, this may involve the removal of architraves.

We also offer a non-intrusive survey where the back of frames are not checked, and no assumptions are made with regards to the fire stopping.

Once our survey is complete, we will issue a comprehensive report indicating any issues we have found and the required remedial work to bring them back to conformity.

To provide a quotation for a survey we would need to know the number of fire rated doors you require inspecting and whether the survey is to be intrusive or non-intrusive. We can total the number of doors from the fire compartmentation drawings, or other floor plans that identify the doors and their intended fire ratings.

Fire Door Maintenance & Remedial Work

We carry out maintenance & remedial work on fire-rated door sets under the FIRAS third-party certification scheme.

All our onsite Working Supervisors who undertake fire door maintenance & remedial work have been assessed by Warringtonfire and registered on the FIRAS system.

All work is carried out in accordance with BS8214, ASDMA guidance, the fire door manufacturers’ test evidence (where available) and accepted repair techniques.

On completion of the work, a job-specific FIRAS certificate is issued for the work carried out.

Fire Door Installation

We can install new fire door sets under the FIRAS third-party certification scheme where doors are beyond remediation.

All our onsite Working Supervisors who install fire doors have been assessed by Warringtonfire and registered on the FIRAS system.

We can source door sets ourselves from third-party certified manufacturers or install door sets sourced by the client.

All installations are carried out per the door manufacturer fitting instructions and BS8214.

On completion of the installation work a job specific FIRAS certificate will be issued for the work carried out.

Where clients source doorsets themselves we recommend that third-party certified manufacturers are used.

Door Protection

Cladding doors with Yeoman Shield PVCu protection will reduce the risk of damage to the door core, extending the lifespan of the doorset.

We can clad doors with Yeoman Shield material, including door edge protectors, door face protection panels, clad glazing beads and frame protection.

This can be part of maintenance & remedial work or undertaken separately as required.

Where the fire certification is known for fire doors under BS476 Part 22: 1987 or BS EN 1634-1, the fitting of our PVCu door edge protection and PVCu clad glazing beads can be carried out under the FIRAS third-party certification scheme.

Where door sets are identified as Nominal fire-rated, cladding work is carried out under best practice.

Yeoman Shield door protection products can also be offered as supply only.
